En español tenemos dos palabras para decir ‘to be’: SER y ESTAR. Pero no se pelean, ¡trabajan en equipo!
“SER” es para cosas que no cambian fácilmente. Por ejemplo “Yo SOY así siempre.”
“ESTAR” es para cosas que pueden cambiar. Por ejemplo “Así ESTOY ahora.”
(In Spanish, we have two words to say “to be”: “SER” and “ESTAR”. But they don’t fight — they work as a team!
“SER” is for things that don’t change easily. For example: “Yo SOY así siempre.”
“ESTAR” is for things that can change. For example: “Así ESTOY ahora.”)
🟡 SER = what you are always
We use ser for:
- Your name
- Your job
- Your personality
- Your hair color
- Your nationality
🟢 ESTAR = how you are right now
We use estar for:
- Emotions
- Locations
- Temporary states (sick, tired, happy)
**A general idea:
🔸 “SER” is for things that don’t change easily.
🔸 “ESTAR” is for things that can change.
